Madeira as seen through the lens of a Nokia Lumia 800
I have spent one week on Madeira so some travel posts & more photos to follow shortly – but here is a little sneak peak. I thought that I will post the smartphone photos separately from my DSLR photos. The Lumia didn’t disappoint me this time either, on one mountain walk to the highest peak on Madeira (Pico Ruivo) I walked 12 km with the Canon in one hand and the Lumia 800 in the other hand, taking photos with both of them so I could compare the photos later. And although a DSLR – especially with a good lens – is always a DSLR and nothing can beat that image quality (even though mine was bought in 2004 and has only 6mpx), I have to admit that the Lumia 800 photos from that walk are really nice. Some Lumia 800 photos were even better than what my EOS 300D was capable of in the conditions up there. And it feels damn cool to be able to say that about a smartphone camera!
All photos are unedited and straight from camera. Contrast setting Normal or High, focus mode Normal or Macro, those are the only settings I have touched while taking the photos.
